Using a specialized phonetic keyboard and predictive shortcuts for common speech errors, the SLP can quickly and accurately transcribe the client's actual production. This "transcription-by-modification" method is the fastest and most effective approach recognized within the field; it also allows for optimal use of the speech therapist's clinical judgment, a true requirement for any  professional assessment.
