## Description

SPEAKall! Lite™ is an evidence-based communication app for the Apple iPhone. It has been designed to introduce augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) in autism spectrum disorder and/or developmental speech and language disorders. The design follows the original SPEAKall! AAC app for the iPad. This application has been developed to help children and adults with little to no functional speech acquire an initial symbol vocabulary and learn the process of constructing sentences. 

The purpose of SPEAKall! Lite is to provide a readily available communication tool for individuals and their caretakers. Because many families affected by autism or developmental disability may not have immediate access to an iPad, but may already possess an iPhone, SPEAKall! Lite can be an instantly available solution to establish basic but crucial communication skills. Once SPEAKall! Lite has been used successfully, the transition to SPEAKall! on an iPad is easy and uncomplicated.

The SPEAKall! Lite interface provides a versatile learning platform that goes beyond simple symbol activations for voice output by actively engaging the learner in a variety of communication related activities. It can be used to target therapeutic goals including

●	Emerging language 
●	Social interaction and social-pragmatic skills
The interface is easily customizable to each learner’s specific needs and can grow with the learner as needs and capabilities expand.

Research and development of the SPEAK*** technologies have been sponsored by the National Institutes of Health – National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD). SPEAKall! has received strong recognition in the AAC industry as documented by prestigious awards including:
