## Description

Tabikana is your essential companion for a trip to Japan. I've built the app over time to focus on the essentials, based on my own trips to Japan: katakana lessons to help you read Japanese, plus practical travel tools for currency, phrases and more.

Here's what Tabikana includes:

**KATAKANA LESSONS**
Katakana is one of the three Japanese alphabets, and it's mainly used for words which come from English - food and transport words especially. Learning katakana was the single best thing I did before my first trip to Japan. For a little effort, you can understand a lot, and impress some locals in the process!

I've written every lesson by hand, as a native English speaker who has studied Japanese. This means the lessons are written from first-hand learning experience - I'll help you avoid all the usual pitfalls.

Currency Conversion Calculator:
• Convert from Japanese Yen to 20+ currencies, including US Dollars, Euro and British Pounds
• Works completely offline, but if you're online it'll check the latest rates every day

Consumption Tax Calculator:
• Add consumption tax to any pre-tax prices you see while in Japan
• Remove consumption tax from post-tax prices (useful if you're taking advantage of Tax Free options)
