## Description

**Travel to Europe** is the official European Union app for voluntary pre-registration with the Entry/Exit System (EES). Eligible non-EU nationals can create a journey, select a border crossing, scan their biometric passport using NFC, take a selfie for identity verification, answer travel questions, and receive confirmation before arrival or departure.

The app requires an iPhone 8 or later running iOS 16 or later, a biometric passport, NFC, and a front-facing camera. Users may also add co-travellers where supported. Pre-registration does not replace border checks or guarantee entry; final decisions are made by local border authorities. Availability and features vary by participating European country.

## Review summary

User reviews largely converge on reliability issues. Key problems include limited/unsupported entry points (Portugal/Lisbon, Sweden only), failure to generate QR codes, and non-functionality at Lisbon airport. Preregistration guidance is unclear, and the app is not integrated with EES. The chip reader is hard to use and there is no in-app passport scan, with some manual entry options mentioned only on other sites. Overall, critical features do not work as intended.

### Pros

- So fast and easy!

### Cons

- Cannot select departure/entry points for Portugal (Lisbon); Lisbon searches fail and Portugal options are not found (only Sweden appears as an entry point in some reviews).
- App does not work at critical steps (no QR code generation at end; preregistration cannot be completed; Lisbon-related functionality failing).
- Not integrated with the European Entry System (EES) and not functioning at Lisbon airport.
- Registration timing and prerequisites are unclear/inconsistent (conflicting guidance about how far in advance you can register).
- Chip reader is nearly unusable; directions are not helpful; no in-app passport scan (manual data entry referenced only on UK site).
