## Description

Sorcery! is a four-part interactive RPG adventure where your choices shape the story in real time. Explore a hand-drawn 3D map, wield 48 spells, and duel foes with a unique touch-based system as the narrative rewrites around you.

With inklewriter technology, original illustrations, and collaboration between Steve Jackson and inkle, the game rewrites its narrative based on every decision. Part 1, The Shamutanti Hills, is followed by Part 2, Kharé: Cityport of Traps, with Part 3 planned for later, inviting you to replay and discover new paths.

## Review summary

Overall, Sorcery! is lauded for its superb writing, deep world, and replayable branching stories that adapt to your choices, with strong visuals and a distinct interactive-book feel. However, many players find the experience too short for the price, feel nickel-and-dimed by buying multiple parts, and cautious about optimization and occasional UI bugs. The core appeal—rich narrative and player agency—remains, but the business model and some technical hiccups temper its hours of enjoyment.

### Pros

- Immersive writing and storytelling that makes you feel like you’re shaping your own adventure.
- High replayability with branching paths and multiple endings across the series.
- Rich world-building with maps, illustrations, and thoughtful presentation.
- Innovative interactive fantasy RPG feel with an open spell interface and strategic combat.
- Widely regarded as one of the best RPG/storytelling experiences on the App Store.

### Cons

- Very short play sessions; the first part can be completed in under an hour.
- Value/price concerns: many feel $5 for a single part, or the total price for all four parts, is not worth the content.
- Paywalls across parts: you’re repeatedly asked to purchase the next installments.
- Not optimized for newer devices and some UI performance issues (e.g., iPhone X/iPhone XS).
- Spell-casting UI bugs (letters replaced by symbols) occasionally disrupt gameplay.
