## Description

DS cloud is Synology's mobile file syncing companion for DiskStation. It lets you choose which folders to sync to your mobile devices and makes them available offline, so you can access important files wherever you go. You can customize sync per folder, setting maximum file sizes and filtering which file types get synced.

Notes and requirements: You must own a Synology NAS to run DS cloud. For full features, DiskStation must run Cloud Station 4.0 or newer; versions from 2.10.4 support iOS 8+.

## Review summary

Summary: User reviews show that DS Cloud can offer fast NAS-focused syncing and quick file viewing on iPhone, sometimes outperforming OneDrive for file access. However, many users report the app as neglected and unstable, with frequent launch crashes (including Face ID), no background sync, cumbersome password changes, and a very long or non-resumable initial sync.

### Pros

- Fast syncing for a shared NAS folder.
- Faster file viewing/opening on iPhone than OneDrive.
- Enables syncing between iPhone and Synology NAS for a share (NAS-based access).

### Cons

- No recent updates; several reviews note it hasn't been updated for years.
- Frequent crashes on startup and when using Face ID.
- Does not support background syncing; not listed as a background app in iOS.
- Changing password requires unlinking and re-syncing; no in-app password change.
- Initial sync is very lengthy and cannot always resume once interrupted.
