## Description

BlackBerry Connect extends corporate instant messaging (IM) and presence to mobile devices without demanding VPN access or DMZ servers. It securely connects to Microsoft Lync and OCS, providing IM, presence, and directory lookup while protecting corporate data and respecting employee privacy. Important: the app requires back-end software and credentials to operate, and is not compatible with iPod Touch.

End-user features include private personal data, real-time presence, multiple chats, search of conversations (including offline mode), and configurable alerts. IT features include encryption for data in motion and at rest, no firewall holes, granular security policies, remote wipe, jailbroken-device detection, and seamless integration with other Good mobile collaboration solutions to support end-to-end business workflows.

## Review summary

Users largely report BlackBerry Connect as unreliable: it often fails to connect, logs out, and disrupts notifications. When it does work, it’s acceptable, and the email feature works well, but the chat/IM experience is plagued by loops, sign-in errors, and instability across iOS versions.

### Pros

- Email portion works well.
- When it works, it’s relatively reliable for basic use.
- Provides BB Connect chat/IM features when connected.

### Cons

- Frequent connection failures and retry loops prevent signing in or accessing messages.
- Unreliable and unstable; users get logged out, go offline, or the app freezes.
- Notifications and instant messages delivery are inconsistent or missing.
- Authentication/sign-in problems, frequent re-downloads, and password/keychain issues.
- Compatibility and stability issues on iOS versions (e.g., iOS 13.x).
