Created during a combat deployment in Afghanistan, Tactical NAV (TACNAV-X) began as a low-cost, highly accurate navigation platform tailored for the U.S. military and to honor fallen service members. It has withstood evaluation against Nett Warrior, ATAK, and BFT to ensure robust performance in austere environments and to support training and field missions.

Its core features include offline mapping, grid-based coordinates (MGRS/UTM/USNG), waypoint plotting with military-style overlays, a fast-azimuth compass (FastLock), and drawing overlays for mission planning. The extension is designed for secure operation without cellular connectivity, and the Department of Defense does not endorse Tactical NAV.
