## Description

PenaltyTimer is the first mobile app created specifically for roller derby officials. It has since been used by leagues all over the world.

Typical stopwatches can be unreliable and cumbersome to use. PenaltyTimer provides a reliable way to track penalties with built-in knowledge of the WFTDA ruleset for those tricky jammer situations. If you're short staffed at practice, managing the full penalty box is no problem!

FEATURES
- Manage any configuration you'd like: two blockers, two jammers, four blockers, or even the full penalty box!
- Stop all timers simultaneously between jams.
- 10 second warning, alerting you to tell the skater to stand up.
- Tap-edit allows you to quickly edit a time or add a minute for a double-penalty.
- Customizable colors to match the team uniforms.
- Full support for Retina display and iOS multitasking.
- Localized into eight languages.

## Review summary

PenaltyTimer is widely praised for making penalty timing easy, with built-in rules and flexible timers. It's considered the de facto standard, easy for volunteers, and regularly updated for rule changes. However, multiple reviews report stability issues, including crashes after iOS updates, and some users would like more customization options (default times, longer penalties). Overall, it's a must-have tool for derbys, offering strong efficiency and adaptability despite reliability caveats.

### Pros

- Easy and efficient penalty timing; one person can run the entire penalty box, reducing the need for multiple stopwatches.
- Built-in jammer rules with on/off toggles; supports WFTDA/MRDA and can be adapted to different leagues.
- Very user-friendly for volunteers; easy to learn and use even for practice jams.
- Flexible timer controls and multi-timer support (timers for jammers, teams, blockers; stop/start all timers at once; support for custom penalty times).
- Widely adopted and regularly updated; considered the de facto standard across leagues and provides good value.

### Cons

- Crashes and launch failures; repeated reports of the app not opening, especially after iOS updates (e.g., iOS 9).
- Requests for more customization options (default penalty times, longer penalties) to suit different scrimmage needs.
