## Description

GOV.UK ID Check is a Chrome extension that helps you prove your identity for GOV.UK and HMRC services by matching your face to a photo ID. It supports UK photocard driving licences, UK passports, non-UK passports with biometric chips, and UK biometric documents such as BRP, BRC and Frontier Worker permits (FWP). Before you start, you’ll need a well-lit area, an iPhone 8 or newer, and iOS 16.7+. Depending on your ID, you will either take a photo of the ID and scan your face, or capture the ID photo, scan its biometric chip, and then scan your face.

What happens next and privacy: The extension only helps confirm your identity; you’ll return to the government service website to view the results. Your personal information will not be stored in the app, or on the phone when you finish using it. We collect your data securely and delete it when it is no longer needed.
