## Description

There is no sign-up screen. No email, no password, no card — open the app and connect. The free tier is 2 GB a connection, 5 a day, and the app shows how many are left.

No sign-up. No email address, no password, no card. Open the app and press connect.

That is not a promotion we can withdraw — it is how the tunnel is built. Your device asks for a ticket and gets one back signed but unread: the signature is made over a value we never see. When you connect, the ticket proves only that some device on your tier was allowed one. Not which device. Not you.

FREE, WITH THE NUMBERS PRINTED
The free tier gives you 2 GB per connection and up to 5 connections a day. A connection ends at 2 GB rather than throttling, and does not quietly keep running and bill you for it. The app shows how many are left, and when the next one is back.

IT TELLS YOU WHEN IT IS NOT WORKING
Most VPN apps have two states, connected and disconnected, and "connected" is the one that lies: the switch is green and nothing is getting through. ForestVPN judges the tunnel from its own packet counters and reports which of eight things is actually true — working, idle, degraded, stopped at the handshake, stopped after the handshake, an MTU black hole, the exit cannot reach the internet, or your local network is down. It also says where the fault is: your network, your internet provider, the first hop, or the exit. When the evidence does not name a layer, it says so instead of guessing.

IT COMES BACK
Move from Wi-Fi to cellular data, lock the phone, come back an hour later — the tunnel re-establishes itself rather than leaving you disconnected without saying so.

ONE TAP OFF
The disconnect control is on the first screen, not underneath a menu, and it disconnects.

HOW THE TUNNEL IS BUILT
• Quantum, our own Noise protocol, wire-compatible with WireGuard's handshake: X25519, ChaCha20-Poly1305 and BLAKE2s, with fresh keys for every session.
• Packets are padded to a size that varies rather than a fixed one, and the client can move across a range of UDP ports rather than sitting on a single well-known one.
• While the tunnel is up, the routes it claims stay authoritative, so traffic meant for the tunnel is not quietly handed back to the plain network. iOS gives an app no way to stop every packet on the device, and we do not claim one.

YOU PICK THE EXIT
A searchable list of the locations we actually run, with the tier each one needs shown on it. You choose; nothing chooses for you.

WHAT WE DO NOT KEEP
There is no column anywhere for the sites you visit or the names you look up. One row does join your device to the session it pays for, so the allowance can be metered and a revoked device cut off; a device linked to an account inherits that link until the row is deleted, an hour after the session settles. Nothing records which exit a session used, and the service carrying your traffic holds no account database. Payment goes through Apple; we never see a card number.

WHAT WE DO COLLECT
A device-key hash, an Apple purchase receipt, and per-device byte volume — metering, not tracking. A sent diagnostic report shows its contents on screen first.

IF YOU WANT AN ACCOUNT
You do not need one to connect, and you never will. If you buy a subscription and want it on your other devices, you get a 32-character account number — no email address, no password, nothing to be breached. Linking a device to an account cannot be undone, and the app says so before you do it rather than after.

PAID PLANS
One paid plan, sold through Apple, billed monthly or every 12 months. The 12-month plan carries Apple's 3-day free trial if you have not used one on this Apple Account before; if you have, Apple charges on day one, and the app tells you which of those applies before you buy. The price, the renewal price and where to cancel are all on screen before payment. Canceling returns you to the free tier, and nobody who already pays gets sold an upgrade.
