## Description

Bluetooth Inspector helps you discover nearby Bluetooth peripherals and inspect their services and characteristics in real time, including signal strength and device identifiers. It supports reading and writing characteristic values, and extracts firmware and software version strings from devices that broadcast them, with a history of values timestamped as they change.

It also logs peripherals, services, characteristics, and values to a .log file for analysis, integrates with Shortcuts for common actions, and offers background scanning by advertised service IDs with per-location counts in Live Activity. For Apple devices, you can check battery levels without installing the app on every device. Note: continuous Bluetooth usage can impact battery life.

## Review summary

Bluetooth Inspector is a promising tool for scanning and visualizing nearby devices, with useful RSSI-based location and a map view. However, it suffers from stability and UI issues—memory leaks, frequent crashes, a volatile device list, and buggy map behavior—that limit its reliability and usability despite strong core features.

### Pros

- Useful for scanning and discovering nearby Bluetooth devices, making it handy for networking.
- Helps locate devices by their signal strength (RSSI), allowing you to estimate distance or location.
- Includes a map/location view to visualize nearby devices.

### Cons

- Memory leak leading to high RAM usage during scans, sometimes forcing close to other apps.
- Frequent crashes and overall instability (crashes soon after opening or during use).
- Unreliable device list with many 'Unknown' devices and UI that re-sorts, making it hard to identify devices (selection not tied to a device ID).
- Map/location features are buggy (zooming doesn't persist and navigation can be hard to use).
