## Description

HeartOut lets applicants join private auditions using a QR code or access code, complete registration, and record and submit audition videos in the app. Recordings simulate live conditions: camera-roll uploads and editing aren’t allowed, and audition organizers set the number of takes.

The app supports auditions with multiple events, schedules, slots, and questions. Submissions belong to the organization running the audition and aren’t public. Directors can also sign in with a school account to register, record, and submit on behalf of students.

## Rankings

- #104,860 — Overall

## Review summary

HeartOut is praised for being easy to use and time-saving for remote auditions, with supportive customer service and multiple attempt options. However, many reviews surface reliability issues: crashes, lost or unsaved recordings, and false wifi error messages, sometimes varying by device. The 3-attempt limit can add pressure for performers. Overall, it’s valued for accessibility and equity in auditions, but reliability improvements are needed.

### Pros

- Easy to use with clear instructions
- Time-saving and convenient for remote auditions (close to in-person feel)
- Helpful customer support / responsive help
- Allows multiple attempts per audition (commonly three)
- Kid-friendly / accessible to users of various ages

### Cons

- Frequent glitches and crashes that can destroy or fail to save recordings
- Recordings can be lost or not saved after submission
- Reliability varies across devices and phones (inconsistent performance)
- Limited number of attempts (three) can add pressure for users
- Some users report inconsistent or nonexistent customer support
