## Description

Sing to Say is a learning tool that uses (original) music to help children learn language.   

Our goal is to provide a path for early learners to learn words through music.

Sing to Say was developed for early communicators ranging from the nonverbal to those with advanced language skills.

Our research shows that music and language are acquired in different parts of the brain

Music boosts learning language by activating centers of the brain helpful in teaching vocabulary. Sing to Say uses music to bridge to the language centers.

It boosts your child’s communication skills through music and engaging learning activities.

CONTENT:
There is no AI in Sing to Say. All the content is original and developed by the Sing to Say team. 

The music was composed by Ray Fabi and recorded in studio by professional musicians. Music performances are exciting and original. The songs are well-paced, clear and geared to early learners. 

The lyrics were written by Stacie Carroll, a special needs educator at TDSB and co-founder. The music tracks were produced by Neil Smolar, film composer and co-founder.

Our animators bring the songs to life! 

Sing to Say is hosted by the Minimops, originally created for National Geographic Kids and TVO Kids.  The Minimops add to the engagement and enhance learning. Your child will have FUN learning new words!

USE SING TO SAY ACROSS DEVICES
Use Sing to Say on both iPad and iPhone. Your child's activities will be synched across devices. 

CONCEPT
Research shows that music and language are acquired in different parts of the brain. Sing to Say uses music to bridge to the language centers. 

MODULES
In LEARN IT, children acquire vocabulary through the use of song and
animation. SING IT is where children can explore expressive labguage using the words they’ve learned in LEARN IT.

CHECK IT
In the CHECK IT module we test for understanding and retention.

TRACKING
The application provides feedback regarding a child’s progress in all facets of the learning process.

RESEARCH HISTORY
* A year of research on the effects of music in learning language for children was conducted. This included extensive interviews with parents, educators and Speech Language Therapists, 
* In partnership with Centennial College and two grants from Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).two phases of applied research were conducted. 
* We conducted formative research including focus groups with educators and therapists and user testing with children, parents and educators in partnership with the Toronto District School Board. We subsequently conducted qualitative research with children in Boston and Toronto.
