## Description

Drammen Håndballklubb ble stiftet 3. mars 1992.

Det var etter at generalforsamlingene i de to klubbene Reistad IL (Lier) og IF Sturla (Drammen) vedtok å danne “overbygningsklubben” DHK etter at NHF hadde gitt sitt samtykke til sammenslåingen av de respektive klubbenes senioravdelinger.

Klubben fikk en «flying start» da Reistad IL’s håndballherrer rykket opp i eliteserien samme sesong. Dermed kunne DHK debutere i Drammenshallen høsten ’92 som eliteserielag. DHK klarte ikke å holde plassen og rykket ned i 2. div. våren ’93. Sesongen etter gikk laget direkte opp i eliteserien igjen, denne gang med Kent Harry Anderson som trener. Dette skulle bli starten på en eventyrlig opptur for håndballinteresserte drammensere.
