## Description

Collabora Office is a robust, open-source office suite for iOS, based on LibreOffice. It provides editing for text, spreadsheets, and presentations and supports Open Document Format (ODF) as well as Microsoft Office formats.

The project is under active development; bug reports and feedback are welcome via the bug tracker at col.la/iosBug. The iOS port combines LibreOffice code with a new front-end inspired by Collabora Online. It is released under the Mozilla Public License v2 and related Open Source licenses.

## Review summary

Users praise Collabora Office on iPad for OpenDocument/LibreOffice compatibility, offline/local storage, open-source/privacy, and a LibreOffice-like feature set. Repeated negatives include saving problems and data loss risks, crashes and slow performance, a non-intuitive, non-optimized mobile UI, and broken trackpad scrolling. Overall, it’s a compelling open-source Office alternative when stable and user-friendly, but remains unreliable and challenging for daily editing due to persistence of stability, saving, and UX issues.

### Pros

- OpenDocument/LibreOffice compatibility on iPad for editing documents
- Supports local file storage and cloud-drive integration, enabling offline editing
- Open-source and privacy-conscious design (transparency)

### Cons

- Saving issues: unreliable autosave and difficulty saving or naming files; confusing save flow
- Crashes and performance instability in Writer/Calc and slow file operations
- Mobile UX/UI not optimized for touch; non-intuitive interface and glitches
- Trackpad scrolling support is broken/limited on iPadOS, hindering editing navigation
