## Description

Avigilon Alta Open turns your phone into a secure door key for Avigilon Alta Access Control systems. The app discovers nearby Alta readers and unlocks doors with a simple wave or tap, using Bluetooth Low Energy, Wi-Fi, and LTE for reliable access. It supports touchless unlock, a mobile badge, and flexible methods including Apple Watch, tablet app, and mobile app.

Digital Guest Passes allow you to issue guest credentials from the app, while Remote Unlock and lockdown features give administrators control from anywhere. With an activity log, Favorites, and easy multi-organization login, Avigilon Alta Open combines security with convenience.

## Rankings

- #13,155 — Overall
- #23 — free access

## Review summary

Users appreciate keyless gate access and its usefulness in facilities, but reliability is a major problem. Across reviews, doors fail to open repeatedly; Apple Wallet/Apple Pay hijacks the experience; privacy and location permissions are a concern; Bluetooth and iOS integration issues persist; and internet connectivity can lock users out. Users also want features like dark mode, CarPlay, and widgets. Overall, the app is convenient when it works but inconsistent and raises privacy concerns.

### Pros

- Keyless entry / gate access convenience
- Useful for facility-specific access (gyms, offices)
- Generally convenient when it works for gate access

### Cons

- Unreliable and inconsistent door opening across doors and times
- Apple Wallet / Apple Pay interferes by opening Wallet instead of Alta (and Tap to Pay issues)
- Privacy concerns: location data sharing and ongoing background location permissions
- Bluetooth issues and iOS integration problems (permissions missing after iOS updates)
- Reliance on internet / connectivity causing lockouts when offline
