## Rankings

## Review summary

Weather Connect is widely criticized as outdated and unreliable on iOS. The core recurring issues are the 2.4 GHz WiFi requirement and inability to select networks, repeated failures and looping during setup, and Weather Underground login changes breaking uploads. The app hasn’t been updated for years, with little visible support. Some users report a working workflow or workaround, but results are inconsistent and often depend on external steps (e.g., using LaCrosse View first). Overall, the top pain points are lack of updates, network/configuration problems, and unreliable connectivity to WU.

### Pros

- When it works, it can connect a La Crosse weather station to Weather Underground via Weather Connect.
- A workable workflow exists (often involving first setting up WiFi with the LaCrosse View app) that can lead to a successful WU connection.
- The setup flow is straightforward to navigate when the app is functioning.

### Cons

- Not updated in years and appears effectively unsupported.
- Requires a 2.4 GHz WiFi network and cannot select or disable 5 GHz; many users cannot connect or see their 2.4 GHz networks.
- Frequent failures: the app often returns to the initial setup screen, shows generic 'Success' then loops, or reports 'unknown error' without progressing.
- Weather Underground login changes have broken data uploads via the app; functionality is no longer reliable.
- iOS version is frequently unreliable while some reports note the Android version works, indicating cross‑platform inconsistency and lack of ongoing support.
