## Review summary

GoodTask shines as a Reminders-backed task manager with a polished front end and deep customization, and many users praise its strong Reminders integration, power-user features, and affordable one-time pricing. However, multiple reviews cite persistent performance problems—lag, crashes, and unreliable sync—along with an overwhelming feature set and complex filter logic. Privacy concerns over broad data access and separate licenses for iOS/macOS also surface, as does occasional widget instability.

### Pros

- Reminders-backed integration; seamless front end that acts as a bridge to Apple Reminders
- Powerful, feature-rich, and highly customizable (bulk move, tagging, custom buttons, etc.)
- Easy to use with reliable synchronization to Reminders and a clean UI
- One-time/lifetime pricing option that's affordable compared to competitors
- Longstanding development with years of use and ongoing updates

### Cons

- Significant performance issues: lag, crashes, and unreliable sync, especially with Smart Lists
- Overwhelming feature set and confusing filter logic; steep learning curve
- Privacy concerns due to requiring broad access to Reminders/Calendar to function
- Licensing friction: separate purchases for iOS and macOS instead of a single cross-platform license
- Widget-related instability and occasional freezes when using the widget
