## Description

RSS Chemicals is a cloud-based chemical inventory management tool developed with a researcher-centric approach. It allows easy tracking and maintenance of containers using a barcoding system. Chemical and safety information, such as hazard codes and first aid, are auto-populated. The app enables users to create chemical networks to share chemicals while controlling access easily. RSS Chemicals includes a complementary web application that works in sync with the mobile app and has additional features such as structure search and import/export capabilities.

Features include:
• Supports add/remove/track via barcodes and mobile camera
• Advanced inventory search based on name, CAS, or substructure
• Provides hazard codes, storage, and first aid information.
• Ability to share and track chemicals among research groups while controlling access levels

## Review summary

Users report major issues with RSS Chemicals, including performance problems, unreliable authentication, scanning/search failures, and loss of essential inventory features after updates. UI glitches further hinder usability. A minority still notes the scanning capability as a positive, but overall feedback is that the app fails to meet lab safety and inventory needs.

### Pros

- Scanning functionality enables quick data entry from a mobile device.

### Cons

- Severe performance issues: the app is slow, unresponsive, and frequently crashes or fails to load.
- Login and MFA reliability problems: difficult to log in, MFA/2FA verification is challenging, and users are often logged out after use.
- Barcode/QR scanning and campus-wide search failures: scanning QR or searching serial numbers often shows errors or does not work.
- Update-related removal of core inventory features: cross-lab visibility, adding new chemicals, and campus-wide search have been removed or obscured.
- UI/UX glitches: stretched UI, inaccessible save/back controls, and login button not clearly clickable.
