## Description

**doqment PDF Reader** is an open-source, privacy-friendly alternative to Firefox’s built-in PDF viewer, designed for sustained reading of books, journal articles, and other long documents. Choose from light and dark colour themes to reduce eye strain and improve reading comfort.

The extension adds smart text zooming, automatic table-of-contents tracking, and a hideable toolbar for distraction-free reading—especially on smaller screens. It supports familiar Firefox PDF viewer shortcuts, offers customizable preferences, and collects no user data.

## Review summary

Top positives: color/theme customization, strong dark mode, and a feature-rich experience that beats built-in viewers. Common drawbacks: drag-and-drop reliability issues, lack of automatic OS-wide dark mode syncing, occasional UI blocking, and Firefox-specific viewing limitations that affect direct PDF links.

### Pros

- Color/theme customization (background and paper colors) enhances readability.
- Strong dark mode with high contrast and readability.
- Feature-rich with a wide set of functions, outperforming built-in Firefox/Edge PDF viewers for researchers.

### Cons

- Unreliable drag-and-drop opening; PDFs often open in a new tab or replace the current tab.
- Dark mode does not automatically sync with the OS/system; manual adjustments are needed.
- UI elements (tool settings) can obscure part of the page during reading.
- Firefox-specific viewing limitations require using the extension tab rather than direct PDF links.
