Summary

The Crispy2d Chrome extension forces nearest-neighbor scaling for selected websites dealing with screenshots and retro-gaming. Among the hand-picked websites are MobyGames, Gamebase64 and Lemon Amiga.

As of late 2012, modern browsers still scale bilinearly, making pixel art blurry and annoying. This is CSS's Achille's heel. Some Chrome custom builds solve this problem, but the solution isn't available for the general.

Technically speaking: Cripsy2d creates a canvas and upscales the source image by itself. You can still right-click on the image and use "Save Image" or "Open Image in a New Tab". Awesome!

With this extension, bitmap graphics are scaled properly. Happy pixel art is happy!

User reviews
Woah! This is like magic! Who thinks up this stuff! Who would've thought!? This is an amazing seamless auto-utility that makes those 8-bit & 16-bit pics look just right and just awesome! These images haven't looked so good since I saw them on my C1902 monitor, like more than twenty years ago! The maker of this excellent extension rules--he just does! Five of 5 stars AND a big, fat PLUS-1! WOOOOOO!

Does exactly what it says. Huge help on any retro game-related site, since nobody ever displays screenshots at 1x scale. A huge improvement.

Absolutely brilliant. A must for anyone who loves and respects pixel art.
