Extension summary
Fake News Fitness (FNF) is not a curriculum or a complete learning solution, but is designed to complement one as an analysis tool, sharing platform and culminating project. It includes two components:
- A browser extension that prepopulates a pop-up form with web literacy data from the page and site.
- A community platform for connecting page analyses, analysts, and application projects.
Students learning to apply web media literacy to think critically about online sources can pull up a web page, complete a form, and submit a detailed rating of an article’s credibility to an online platform shared by other students in their class, and/or partner classrooms. Doing such assessments frequently in community, can have the skill-building benefits a gym membership does for physical fitness.
