## Description

Custom TTS Reader is a Chrome extension that implements text-to-speech using the OpenAI API format. It can work with any OpenAI-compatible service, including Kokoro FastAPI, and reads highlighted text via the 'Read Selected Text' context menu.

From the extension toolbar you can configure the API URL, API key, speed, and voice. If you leave options unchecked, it reads sentence by sentence; streaming mode is the recommended approach, while download mode saves an MP3. Hosting your own speech endpoint improves privacy and control; GitHub links for the extension and Kokoro FastAPI are provided for quick setup.
