## Description

Consent-O-Matic is a Chrome extension designed to automatically handle GDPR consent forms and cookie pop-ups that often aim to confuse users into agreeing to tracking. With this add-on, you set your privacy preferences once, and it automatically responds to consent requests on your behalf, preventing manipulation and preserving your privacy.

Developed by privacy researchers at Aarhus University in Denmark, Consent-O-Matic combines data from over 680 consent pop-ups into five manageable categories that you can toggle on or off according to your preferences. If categories do not exactly match, the extension opts for the more privacy-preserving choice to ensure your data remains protected. This tool helps enforce privacy rights under the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) by simplifying user consent management.

## Review summary

Consent-O-Matic is generally helpful, saving time by automatically handling cookie prompts and offering a smooth, easy-to-use experience across devices. Many users report it works well on a majority of sites and reduces button-click fatigue. However, reviews also note notable drawbacks: performance is inconsistent across sites, with some pages doing nothing or just informing; the extension has limited site coverage and would benefit from community filter lists; and its effectiveness can vary by location, with reduced usefulness in Poland. Overall, strong timesaver with caveats.

### Pros

- Saves time and reduces cookie prompts across websites.
- Very smooth and easy to use.
- Works across multiple devices (mobile, tablet, PC).
- Automatically rejects cookies without having to manually click through toggles.

### Cons

- Inconsistent performance across sites; often doesn't work on many pages or only informs the user.
- Limited site coverage; needs community filter lists and broader site support.
- Geographic limitations; reduced effectiveness in certain regions, notably Poland.
