Shimeji is a fully customizable companion engine for Android devices, enabling users to overlay adorable animated characters—called Shimeji—right on top of any app. Unlike traditional live wallpapers, Shimeji lets you interact with your virtual buddies anywhere on your screen, bringing charm and fun to your Android experience. Users can construct frame-by-frame animations, import existing Shimeji sets, or download new ones, with support for up to five Shimeji simultaneously.

Originally a desktop buddy feature on computers, Shimeji has been adapted to Android so you can enjoy playful characters that can intercept clicks, roam your screen, or simply entertain. Features like pass-through and ceiling modes let your apps remain fully usable even as your Shimeji buddies play around. Creators are encouraged to contribute their own Shimeji image sets by contacting the developer.

Used to work really well: would import, and change, and play with my Shimeji's all the time. It had the best UI out of all the apps too! But now it seems like it doesn't like to deal with importing and keeps bugging out when I try. Such a shame cause I used to love the app so much. :[

I really like this app! I love how customizable it is and how easy it is too add your own little guys to it, I do wish there were a couple more default options but that's not entirely a complaint because of how easy the customization is, what I do have to complain about is how a majority of the time the wall climbs and the ceiling climbs do nothing at all, they mostly just stand there doing nothing and only rarely do they even move, only to jump off and move a whole bunch on the ground.
