PDF Reader was built around exactly that moment — open any document sitting on your device, tap the voice icon, and listen as the app reads it aloud while highlighting each line in real time so you never lose your place, even if you glance away and come back.

Everything runs completely offline. There's no cloud syncing, no waiting for uploads — your files stay on your device and open instantly. The library screen keeps every PDF organized automatically, showing thumbnails, file sizes, and exactly how far you've gotten in each one, so picking up where you left off takes one tap.

What you can do:
- Listen to any PDF read aloud with synced, real-time line highlighting
- Adjust reading speed to match how fast you like to follow along
- Browse your entire local PDF library sorted by name, size, or last opened
- Mark files as Favorites, To Read, or Have Read to stay organized
- Browse by device folders or use search to find a file instantly
- Pick up exactly where you left off with automatic progress tracking
- Move unwanted files to Trash and restore them anytime before permanent deletion
- Switch to Night Mode for comfortable reading in low light
- Lock the screen while reading to avoid accidental taps
- View full file details — format, size, and last modified date — in one clean screen

Whether it's lecture notes, contracts, ebooks, or reports, PDF Reader turns static documents into something you can actually listen to, follow, and finish — without ever needing an internet connection to read or manage your files. ## Rankings - #970,611 — Overall ## Permissions and access ### Permissions - `android.permission.ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID` - `android.permission.ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION` - `android.permission.ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS` - `android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE` - `android.permission.ACCESS_WIFI_STATE` - `android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE` - `android.permission.INTERNET` - `android.permission.MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE` - `android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS` - `android.permission.READ_APP_BADGE` - `android.permission.VIBRATE` - `android.permission.WAKE_LOCK` - `com.anddoes.launcher.permission.UPDATE_COUNT` - `com.android.vending.CHECK_LICENSE` - `com.google.android.c2dm.permission.RECEIVE` - `com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID` - `com.htc.launcher.permission.READ_SETTINGS` - `com.htc.launcher.permission.UPDATE_SHORTCUT` - `com.huawei.android.launcher.permission.CHANGE_BADGE` - `com.huawei.android.launcher.permission.READ_SETTINGS` - `com.huawei.android.launcher.permission.WRITE_SETTINGS` - `com.majeur.launcher.permission.UPDATE_BADGE` - `com.oppo.launcher.permission.READ_SETTINGS` - `com.oppo.launcher.permission.WRITE_SETTINGS` - `com.sec.android.provider.badge.permission.READ` - `com.sec.android.provider.badge.permission.WRITE` - `com.sonyericsson.home.permission.BROADCAST_BADGE` - `com.sonymobile.home.permission.PROVIDER_INSERT_BADGE` - `com.witech.pdfreader.DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION` - `com.witech.pdfreader.permission.C2D_MESSAGE` - `me.everything.badger.permission.BADGE_COUNT_READ` - `me.everything.badger.permission.BADGE_COUNT_WRITE` ## Similar extensions and apps - [PDF Reader - Voice Reader](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.onlinejobs.remotejobs) — 5,160 users - [Document Reader - PDF Viewer](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.tollcrest.belfry.documentreader_pdfviewer) — 1 users, 4.59 / 5 - [DocReader:Pdf,EbookTextoSpeech](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.aa.docreader) — 70 users - [Pdf Reader - offline mode](https://chrome-stats.com/d/vn.huda.pdfreader) — 12 users - [PdfListener: Read & Listen PDF](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.saratigames.pdflistener) — 16 users - [PDF Reader](https://chrome-stats.com/d/de.queltel.pdf) - [Readr](https://chrome-stats.com/d/labs.dx.readr) — 32 users - [PDF Ultra: Read & Listen](https://chrome-stats.com/d/pa.nm) — 10,092 users - [Voice Reader: PDF & Doc Audio](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.resurrection.voicereader) — 14,074 users - [PDF Reader, Read Aloud](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.nzersun.project.pdfin) — 2,108 users - [EPUB/PDF Reader: Offline TTS](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.app_forge.tts_epub_reader) — 4,798 users, 4.80 / 5 - [PDF Reader: Scanner & Editor](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.pdfReader.pdf_reader) — 8 users --- Source: [Chrome-Stats](https://chrome-stats.com/d/com.witech.pdfreader)
