Review summary
Users appreciate the high customization and functionality of Always On AMOLED, especially for those seeking more options than native AOD features. However, many users highlight major drawbacks including the very high subscription cost, heavy battery consumption, and problems with fingerprint unlocking. The free version is limited and plagued with ads, making the premium version more appealing but expensive. Additionally, some bugs and inconsistencies in weather data and display features were noted. Overall, the app is promising but hindered by cost, battery impact, and usability issues.
Pros
- Customizable always-on display with various options and aesthetics.
- Useful for checking time, weather, and notifications without turning on the phone.
- Includes features to prevent AMOLED screen burn-in by moving the display.

- Responsive and stylish design appreciated by users who paid for pro version.
Cons
- High subscription cost for premium features, with some users citing $14.99/week as excessive.
- Significant battery drain attributed to the app, with some reporting up to 25% usage.
- Fingerprint scanner and phone unlocking issues when always-on display is active, requiring extra steps.
- Limited functionality and features in the free version; many basic features locked behind paywall.
- Frequent aggressive ads in the free version, negatively impacting user experience.

2025-01-19 | When I saw that it's 14.99 a week, which is almost $800 a year I almost uninstalled it immediately. I gave the free version a try and the free options are very limited and even shows less information than what my native Pixel 7 Pro's AOD shows for free such as current local weather data. There's an option to have the AOD move around to reduce burn in for amoled displays but I feel that the movement isn't enough it seemed to just slowly move a few cm's up and down. I'd like it to bounce around
2025-01-05 | The app itself might be okay, but it constantly turns itself off. It'll work for a day or 2, maybe 3, but I will notice every week at some point it's no longer turning on when I charge it, and I'll have to go back into the app again. It's not that big a deal, but I should just get a real clock at that point, one that doesn't turn itself off.
2024-07-30 | Everything I was looking for except the insanely aggressive ads! seriously, a new ad popped up every third click on anything while going through the settings! and, of course, not many options for the free! and they want $15 a WEEK subscription for the pro version! no thank you! the extra glamour options are NOT worth that much! and i got through the initial setup i need, so won't be opening the app again to deal with ads either! so much potential, way too much greed!
2024-04-04 | 14.99 a WEEK for the full version!?!?! Are you for real? That is absolutely insane. Un-installed immediately. Heads up, fellow irritated One UI 6.1 upgraded users... after installation, the first screen you see is a list of options for free and full versions. The full version is 14.99 a week. For those of us irritated by the upgrade and loss of options on the native AOD, this apparently is not a viable replacement.
2024-03-29 | had to revisit this app 6 years later it's pretty great so far and it's changed... I had to uninstall and reinstall. the color change (font) messed everything up. not sure why I set the time with white & blue font. set it to all blue (hours& minutes) but it wouldn't go back to just blue & white on the 'out of box version' then it stopped working I'll try again thank you!
2023-10-03 | This is the best app on my phone. I have time, weather, notifications on my phone 'off' screen 24/7. It sits on my desk, kitchen, bedroom and I look at it all day long to check time and weather without turning on phone. It doesn't use much battery. At meetings, others ask to be able to see my phone so they can watch the time when a clock is not present. Highly recommend.
2023-07-07 | Works, but I can't use it. I like the always on functionality because my current Moto Wdget+ doesn't offer this, even though myast 3-4 phones did. Unlocking is inconsistent now and takes multiple screen presses and tries with the power button/fingerprint scanner, instead of one quick swipe. And it's killing my battery. Might be better on other devices. I wish I could use this but I can't deal with having to do multiple things and cast a spell just to unlock. Uninstalling now.
2022-08-09 | App looks great. Couple of issues: The AM/PM indicator seems to come and go without a pattern. The weather is working but seems to be off for my location. It's 78F w/no clouds here but the weather label shows 86F w/clouds. Not sure where it's pulling its information from. Paid $1.99 plus $7.99 but can't access calendar features ? Developer email not working ?
2022-02-16 | This app is great. It is easy to navigate through, runs smoothly and not complicated. I understand time and effort is put into this and you have to make a living how, but only 2 options for the clock? You're given the basic, plain digital clock to use, or the analog one that's not labeled. Everything else unlocks when you purchase the app. I understand. Only the option to have 2 is the problem.
2021-05-04 | It dose exactly what you think it would. The only complaint I have is that I can't instantly unlock my phone anymore with the fingerprint scanner while the always on display is in effect, making me have to turn on the display or double tap the screen to use the scanner. That alone made me get rid of the app. If they could somehow inpliment this better to where the scanner would work normally, I could see this being on my phone, but right now, not so much. |
