## Description

Scan a food barcode. Scanity reads the ingredient list and checks it against your own blocklist, then tells you plainly: safe, caution, or avoid.<br><br>No opaque health score. No brand&#39;s opinion of what is good for you. Your rules, and the evidence that led to the verdict.<br><br>WHAT IT CHECKS<br>• Artificial dyes — 6 certified colour additives, and their aliases<br>• Seed oils — canola, soybean, sunflower and 8 more<br>• Added sugar syrups — HFCS, isoglucose, corn syrup<br>• Ultra-processed markers — emulsifiers, isolates, flavourings<br>• Gluten, dairy and soy, including cross-contact grains<br>• Anything else you type in — aspartame, MSG, carrageenan, titanium dioxide, or your own list<br><br>SHOWS ITS WORKING<br>Every verdict names the rule that produced it. Open Decode and see the label exactly as printed, then every token resolved against your rules — what matched, what did not, and which alias fired. If Scanity flags an ingredient, you can check why.<br><br>BUILT NOT TO GUESS<br>Ingredient matching is whole-word, so &quot;malt&quot; never fires inside &quot;maltodextrin&quot;. A blocked ingredient counts once, however many aliases it has. When an ingredient is unknown, Scanity says unknown — it never reports a clean result it cannot back up.<br><br>NO ACCOUNT, NO PROFILE<br>There is nothing to sign up for. Your blocklist and your scan history live in local storage on your device — they are never uploaded, and there is no account to attach them to. Scanning a barcode sends that barcode to look the product up, and nothing else.<br><br>YOUR LOG IS A RECORD, NOT A GUESS<br>Every scan is kept with the verdict it got and the rules that produced it. Change a filter later and old entries do not silently rewrite themselves — they are marked as scanned under different rules.<br><br>WHERE THE DATA COMES FROM<br>Ingredient data is built on USDA FoodData Central, with Open Food Facts filling in products USDA does not carry. Both are open databases you can check for yourself.<br><br>A food scanner and ingredient checker for anyone avoiding food additives, artificial dyes, seed oils, high fructose corn syrup, ultra-processed ingredients, or a specific allergen.
