Distance comes from the temperature-corrected speed of sound (331.3 + 0.606Γ—T
m/s), not a fixed constant β€” cold air carries thunder slower than warm air,
and that difference adds up over a few miles. Temperature comes from live
local conditions when location is on, or a standard 20Β°C/68Β°F otherwise.
Storm trend uses a least-squares regression across your last 30 minutes of
strikes rather than comparing the last two β€” a single stray reading can't
flip approaching to receding.
