Owli-AI Assist

Owli-AI Assist uses AI to describe camera images and helps you better understand your surroundings.

The app can record a scene, generate a clear description, and answer follow-up questions. This allows you to ask specific questions about details, such as objects, text, landmarks, or potential obstacles.

Features:

• Scene description via camera
Record a new scene and receive a clear description of the environment.

• Follow-up questions
Ask for details about the scene, for example: "What does the sign say?", "What's in front of me?", or "What kind of plant is that?"

• OCR and text recognition
Owli-AI Assist can recognize text in images and display it clearly, for example, on signs, documents, or screens.

• Speech output
Answers can be read aloud. The app is designed for ease of use and compatibility with TalkBack.

• Voice input
Questions can be asked via text or voice.

• Backend mode or your own OpenRouter key
By default, the app uses the Owli-AI backend. Optionally, you can use your own OpenRouter key in BYOK mode.

Who is the app for?

Owli-AI Assist is designed especially for blind and visually impaired people, as well as anyone who wants to use a quick AI-assisted image description.

AI responses may contain errors or misjudge details. Owli-AI Assist does not replace safe mobility assistance, medical advice, or personal risk assessment. Always use the app with caution, especially in traffic or potentially dangerous situations.

Data privacy:

Image analysis is only triggered when you actively record a scene or ask a question. Depending on the selected mode, requests are processed via the Owli-AI backend or directly via OpenRouter. You can find more information in the privacy policy.
