User reviews
Users appreciate the Mobvoi TicWatch's hardware quality and unique features like voice memo transcription and good battery life. However, the companion app frequently suffers from connectivity and syncing issues, causing data loss and unreliable notification delivery. Many find the app interface confusing, poorly translated, and certain features malfunction or disappear after updates. Premium subscription requirements also frustrate users. Overall, while the watch hardware receives praise, the app's instability and usability issues dampen the user experience.
Pros
- Watch has good battery life and design.
- App can transcribe voice memos from the watch, which is unique compared to other apps.
- Basic fitness tracking features like biking tracking generally work and match other apps.
- The watch performs core smartwatch functions adequately, like showing notifications (when connected).
Cons
- App frequently fails to sync properly with the watch, resulting in lost or delayed data like steps, heart rate, and sleep.
- Connection between watch and phone through the app is unstable and often drops, preventing notifications and media controls.
- The app interface is clunky, poorly translated, and unintuitive, with many features difficult to find or use.
- Certain features stop working after updates, such as sleep heart rate monitoring and workout timers.
- The app is moving towards requiring a premium subscription for features, which is disliked by users.

App is definitely kind of a mess. I mostly need it to access voice memos from my watch. Despite all its flaws including much of the interface being in Chinese, it can transcribe my voice memos. I can't find a third party alternative which can accomplish this. Easy voice recorder, best I can tell, doesn't have transcription. So despite all its flaws, it's still relatively important to me.

Second update: Please add initialize exercises from the phone app as an option. Also I just biked and at the halfway point of my ride, we took a break. When we started up again, the first leg of the ride vanished. It saved the second leg of the ride. Strange. UPDATE. The app appears to be working since installing and reinstalling. I'll update after a few days of use to make sure we are good.
