## Description

Evie is a free, ad-free eBook reader that converts text to lifelike speech so you can listen to books hands-free. It supports ePub, PDF, MOBI/AZW, FB2, DOCX, RTF, HTML and plain text, and reads in the background or with the screen off. Control playback from earphones, car stereo, lock screen or notifications, and fine-tune audio with the built-in equaliser and precise speech speed and punctuation pause settings.

Evie prioritizes privacy and ease of use — it runs without special permissions and remembers TTS voice preferences per language. Optional cloud features (Amazon Polly voices and on-the-fly translation/repetition for language learning) are available via a paid Evie account. Additional conveniences include Wear OS support, advanced PDF reflow, sleep timer, accurate remaining time estimates, and robust library management for listening anytime, anywhere.
