User reviews
Users appreciate CamHipro for remote viewing, privacy by storing data locally, and ease of use with multiple cameras. However, widespread complaints include frequent connectivity and network issues, poor recorded footage playback controls, SD card recording stops, lack of camera patrol functions, and inability to disable night vision. The app is considered affordable but has significant reliability and usability drawbacks that impact user satisfaction.
Pros
- Allows remote live viewing and control of pan/tilt cameras.
- No cloud upload, privacy-friendly as data is stored locally (e.g., on SD card or home server).
- Relatively easy to set up and use with multiple cameras.
- Supports motion detection with scheduling capabilities.
- Affordable option with decent reliability for budget cameras.
Cons
- Unreliable camera connections with frequent disconnects and network anomalies, even with strong Wi-Fi signals.
- Recorded footage viewing is frustrating due to lack of fast forward, rewind, or skip controls.
- SD card recording issues — cameras stop recording after a few days and require frequent formatting or resets.
- No Patrol Mode or automated preset position patrols to prevent camera freezing.
- Night vision cannot be turned off, causing visibility issues with reflections in well-lit areas.
Recent reviews
Works fine for live viewing and control of pan/tilt. Recorded viewing from the camera's storage is very annoying without any fastforward/rewind/skip functions, just careful moving through the timeline or selecting specific files. Really wish they had 2x/4x/8x fast forward/rewind and 1 second/10 second/1 minute skip forward/back buttons and/or swipe actions. You can't even skip AT ALL when viewing full screen. And there is no way to download a portion of a video, just take screenshots.

I like the app but I only really use it for remote viewing when I'm not home. If they didn't have that feature or made me pay for it I would delete the app without a second thought. Nothing gets uploaded to their cloud and the app doesn't have permission to write to my phone. I use open source software that's set to record alerts and motion to my home server. This is just enough for me.
