User reviews
Townsmen is a popular medieval city building game praised for its engaging gameplay, offline mode, and reasonable purchase options to remove ads. Players enjoy its strategy and storyline. However, frequent and intrusive ads, tedious building repair mechanics, and occasional glitches like disappearing inventory hinder user experience. While the game has improved over the years, repair tasks and ads remain major frustrations. Overall, it's a fun and strategic casual game with room for improvement in ad management and gameplay mechanics.
Pros
- Engaging medieval city builder gameplay with strategy and storyline elements.
- Offline play availability, allowing for gaming without internet.
- Reasonable one-time purchase option to remove ads and gain faster speed-ups.
- Graphics are simple but appealing and controls become intuitive over time.
- Frequent updates and continuous improvements over years, adding depth and content.
Cons
- Excessive and intrusive advertisements, including pop-up ads and ad bars shrinking gameplay visibility.
- Annoying frequent building repairs required, which become tedious and time-consuming.
- Issues with the in-game economy, such as disappearing inventory items and cheating impressions.
- Repair mechanics can be overbearing, leading to repetitive gameplay focused on fixing buildings.
- Inconsistent reward system for watching ads, causing frustration with unearned prestige or benefits.

Looks like the free prestige's been fixed. Thanks! I like this game. It's similar to AoE. Main thing: It cheats. I know for a fact I just made 10 gold bars. They're nowhere in my inventory now. This happens pretty often if you pay attention. I've gotten to the point in the game where I only need xp points to get to the next level. My inventory disapearing makes it impossible to advance to the next level. Makes me want to uninstall and be done with the game.

I really enjoy the game, but it would be awesome if there was an option to make buildings disappear (for doing decorations, roads, etc). Edit: Most of the time, when I watch an ad for prestige, it doesn't reward me at all. It didn't do this before, but it just started.
