## Review summary

Review patterns show strong appreciation for Handcent’s rich feature set and AI/encryption capabilities, plus long-standing use. However, multiple reviews cite Play Store removals, emoji gaps, recurring crashes, and confusing UI changes after updates. Privacy worries about trackers appear in several comments. Media issues (not downloading images/videos) and general reliability problems also surface. Overall, users value the app’s breadth and innovation but reliability, privacy, and timely updates are frequent pain points across reviews.

### Pros

- AI-enabled features with Bard and ChatGPT integration plus encrypted chat
- Broad feature set that goes beyond standard SMS
- Long-standing app with strong positive reception and loyal user base
- Perceived overall quality and reliability from many users

### Cons

- App availability issues due to removal from Google Play (access loss and potential data concerns)
- Emoji coverage lag: missing newer iPhone-style emojis and skin-tone variations; emoji problems persist
- Frequent instability: crashes, not loading, and occasional non-responsiveness
- Post-update UI/UX changes causing confusion or navigation issues (color schemes, icons, open button)
- Privacy concerns about trackers and data collection
