Pros

Able to use phone keyboard for messaging instead of clunky Spot X keyboard
Device replacement and customer support are responsive and helpful
Works for some users without issues in connecting via Bluetooth

Cons

App often fails to connect to the Spot X device or causes it to freeze
Messages show in the wrong order and sync issues are common
Requires logging into the account which can be problematic in no cell coverage areas
Massive SOS button may be activated accidentally, with unclear functionality
Limited functionality compared to expectations, lacking mapping features and other capabilities

Recent reviews

The stupid is pretty strong with this one. I mean...an app FOR A device designed for use where there is NO CELL COVERAGE shouldn't immediately try and log-in to your account via cell data. It seems like a simple thing to understand how foolish this is. Fortunately, the app works so poorly that I rarely try and use it. Nice that they made an app that's actually worse than the Spot X itself. Avoid this company and buy something else.

The app and the actual device are garbage. Won't sync with each other. Half the time the buttons on the spot x won't even work. Sorry I bought it. Deleted the app and reinstalled. Wiped the spot x and started over, still won't work as it is supposed to. Stay away. Go with a Garmin device.
