Faced with the idea of ​​thinking about an 'EcoTecnoCeno' moment, as a starting point for processes and artistic proposals of the in-person Exhibition EmMeio#16, the research group Imagem(i)matéria presents its proposal in the form of an analogue-digital and visual installation, which aims to contribute with perspectives in which humanity's quest to recognize itself as nature prevails.
The proposed installation materializes in a composition of lambe-lambe posters printed in risography as markers for the visualization of augmented reality*. Its matrices are generated by frottage from the tops of real tree trunks, cut for different reasons
– human, preventive, speculative, marketing action – located in different locations in Rio de Janeiro.
The severed tops of the trees present us with the precise moment in which their life history was interrupted.
From the growth of its rings, we are able to visualize its age, its size, its scale and imagine an infinite number of events in which it participated throughout its existence as a tree. And how many and what stories could they tell us? These tree narratives are the poetic pretext of a budding dream that materializes from augmented reality, based on the memories of those who lived with them.
Of the material image (lambe-lambes), capable of showing,
with precision and inertia, the violence of the interrupted life of these trees, virtuality emerges with different perspectives depending on the gaze and positioning
of each one.
