## Description

Sight Buddy is a free, open-source vision assistant for people who are blind or have low vision. Point your phone and it tells you what&#39;s there — no account, no subscription, no data sent anywhere unless you choose to.<br><br>WHAT RUNS ON YOUR PHONE (always, no setup needed)<br>• Discover Objects — camera scans your surroundings for people, obstacles, and everyday items<br>• Find Objects — say what you&#39;re looking for and get guided toward it, matched on-device<br>• Text reading — point at a page, label, or sign and hear it read aloud<br>• Colour and light detection<br>• Voice commands and speech output<br><br>OPTIONAL: BRING YOUR OWN AI<br>Want richer answers? Add your own OpenAI API key in Settings and unlock:<br>• Image Chat — ask questions about what the camera sees<br>• Text Chat — ask questions about text you&#39;ve scanned<br>• Find Objects fallback — if what you asked for isn&#39;t on the on-device list, your spoken phrase (never an image) is sent to OpenAI to work out what you meant<br>Your key stays encrypted on your device. Requests go straight from your phone to OpenAI — never through us. No key, no AI calls, no charges from us. You&#39;re billed only by OpenAI, only for what you use.<br><br>WHY IT&#39;S DIFFERENT<br>No accounts. No ads. No behavioural tracking. We don&#39;t run a backend, so we can&#39;t collect your photos, audio, or text even if we wanted to. The only thing that ever reaches us is an anonymous crash report — and you can turn that off too.<br><br>Sight Buddy is free software, open source under the MIT licence. Inspect it, fork it, improve it.<br><br>A NOTE ON SAFETY<br>Sight Buddy is an assistive tool, not a substitute for careful judgement.
