However, multiple users report serious issues including slow or non-functional search, lack of Word of the Day notifications for years, navigation problems returning to previous apps, and frequent failures to load word definitions. Dictionary is more than a collection of words and their definitions; it is a treasure trove of facts, scholarly insights, and stories about language. I can spend all day with the app...and sometimes do 🙂 (2019) 2023 Update. App longer permits notifications (it will direct you to enable them but, according to the settings in my pixel 9 XL Pro, that feature is now not permitted by the app). A problem for years. Not a big deal but an indication that this app has been abandon by its developers.

cannot search words or load definitions. App just hangs on a broken screen (background loads but no text) I've tried restarts, clearing cache, deleting local data and uninstall/reinstall. Worked fine until recently Steps to repro: Open app Tap into search bar Enter any word, like "test" Press search icon or tap return Should see the definition load but I just get a blank screen forever
