Review summary
Overall, miMind is a well-designed, powerful mind mapping app praised for its intuitive interface, customizable features, and cross-platform syncing. However, multiple users mention issues with small UI elements on phones, costly and slow syncing due to per-device licenses, and difficulties navigating large maps due to limited search and grouping functions. Despite a somewhat steep learning curve and poor initial help resources, most users find it highly valuable, stable, and worth purchasing.
Pros
- Intuitive and easy-to-use interface with powerful functionality.
- Good syncing capability between mobile and desktop versions.
- Highly customizable mind maps with various styles and layout options.
- Reliable and stable with few crashes over long-term use.
- Offers substantial free features, making the upgrade optional for many users.
Cons
- User interface elements can be too small on phones, making selection difficult without a stylus.
- Syncing between devices can be slow and requires separate licenses per device, leading to higher costs.
- Navigation within large maps can be cumbersome; search functionality lacks ranked results and efficient navigation aids.
- Group movement of nodes is limited and can be challenging when nodes have multiple roots.
- Help documentation and onboarding experience is insufficient for new users, leading to a steep learning curve.

2024-11-03 | Like the layout, it is easy to put together thoughts, I will probably end up upgrading to the full version soon. They probably are missing a few features that others apps might have, like check boxing tasks, and i would like to see reroute nodes for organization in freeform, but I do like the layout and usability.
2024-05-02 | I use mind mapping quite a bit. I enjoy using this one. Biggest plus is the syncing between Mobile and desktop. For the price it's solid. There's just a couple things that I'd change, but I still give it a 5 stars. Would love the easier navigation on desktop to quickly go back to previous tabs. Mobile same thing. And syncing to be a bit quicker but these are picky. It looks real good and is robust.
2023-07-05 | This is a pretty good app. I've used it for years without major issues — least until recently. I've had a bug where the text and cell formatting keeps changing on me when I load a saved map, and I can't change it back. The interface is also a little cumbersome and sometimes a challenge to navigate — it could do with some streamlining. Still, this remains one of the most useful mobile apps I have on my phone for organizing thoughts and information.
2022-07-09 | I really appreciate this app. My only complaint is that on a phone, some of the UI is very small, and without a stylus, it's easy to accidentally select/deselect things. I don't know if this app works on tablets, but I imagine the small UI wouldn't be an issue there. The mind maps are very customizable, to the extent that I wish there was an option to put a "key" in the corner, for visual reference on complex maps; nodes with blue borders indicate this, green arrows indicate that, and so on.
2022-04-04 | one of very few apps I decided was good enough to buy. Cognitive app works great for me. Easy to adjust viewing size. Using it for complicated healthcare tracking. Still discovering its many features. Even easy to do when sick or on meds. I really love this app. If this type of visual, cognitive approach seems good to you, I recommend trying it. Tons of customization, works for all kinds of things. A+.
2021-11-10 | Great app, bad monetization strategy. If you're thinking about spending around $6 (tax) on the "pro" version of the app, keep these two things in mind: 1. The "license" after purchasing the app expires 2. In order to sync cross-platform devices, you'll need to buy the license for that other device. The "Pro Version Gives" popup doesn't explain this. So you'll end up spending more than the 5 dollar asking price. I rated the app based on how good the free version is.
2021-10-29 | Of all the similar apps I have tried, I like this one the most. Most intuitive intrrface and progression of customization options. I bought the full app ASAP; about $7 or so for cloud sync ability. Purchase also gives access to additional devices and palettes / themes. Very happy with this app and my purchase. Strong contender for the rare 5 star (keep forever) status.
2021-05-06 | Perfect mind mapping tool for me. Useful, very nice looking & easy so I can jump right in. I have miMind on 3 systems and it's just a pleasure to use. Lots of things you can do with each node but nothing gets in your way. Works great with cloud storage, too. Thank you Crytptobees, for this smooth, full featured, reliable Android version of miMind.
2020-07-04 | Due to the character limit, I can't fully explain why this app is so great, but to summarize, it provides plenty of substance for free, so much so that purchasing the upgraded version is entirely optional, and just for that fact alone, I greatly recommend buying the upgraded version. I always believe consumer-friendly choices should be supported, and paying to encourage it is the best way to do it!
2020-02-25 | I've tried just about every Mind Mapping type of app I could find in the play store. This is not only the best mind mapping app I've used, it's just a really, really well done app in general. Tons of features, works great, syncs. (Just hoping no security issues with my Dropbox connection would be my only concern.) *Updated after developer reply: Thank you for your time to reply! Makes me feel better for sure 😊 |
