## Description

Lockwatch – Thief Catcher secretly uses your front camera to take photos and capture GPS location when someone enters an incorrect unlock code. It also notifies you if a SIM card is swapped or if the phone is powered off and later turned back on—delivered by email along with the details. The app works with Android's built-in lock screen, runs only after failed attempts, and is designed to be battery-friendly and ad-free.

All features are unlocked with a subscription after a 7-day free trial. Features include multiple photos per attempt, a 20-second audio clip, and automatic emailing of images, location, and SIM details when available. If there is no network, data is stored locally and sent later. Note: Lockwatch requires Device Administrator permissions and is intended to aid in phone recovery and security.

## Review summary

Reviews show a mix of positives and notable concerns. Users praise its usefulness and multi-device use, with a potential to capture photographic evidence of unauthorized use. However, recurring issues include a subscription model with ongoing monthly fees and billing problems; reliability problems with inconsistent photo capture and emails; Android permission prompts demanding 'allow all the time'; and reports that features were removed or no longer function. Some reviewers also compare it unfavorably to open-source alternatives.

### Pros

- Generally positive reception (described as nice, amazing, or very helpful).
- Can be used on multiple devices (reported by users).
- Capable of capturing photographic evidence during unauthorized use (as promoted by the app).

### Cons

- Ongoing subscription model with monthly fees and billing issues (recurring charges, price changes, and cancellation/refund problems).
- Reliability problems: inconsistent operation, missing notifications, and emails sent with no picture or sound.
- Permissions friction: persistent 'allow all the time' prompts despite enabling the permission.
- Feature changes/removal: auto-photo on unlock removed or not functioning, reducing usefulness.
- Open-source alternatives exist; some users prefer them.
