HOW THE CONTENT FILTER WORKS (VPN PERMISSION)

Guardian uses Android's VpnService to filter adult content. That is what the VPN permission is for, and it is the only thing it does.

When protection is switched on, Guardian creates a local VPN entry on your device for a single purpose: to point your DNS at CleanBrowsing's Family Filter, so adult domains fail to resolve across every browser and every app rather than in one browser only.

Guardian does not route, tunnel, proxy, inspect, log or transmit your traffic. There is no Guardian server, and no browsing data ever leaves your device. The VPN carries no traffic at all - it exists only to apply the DNS filter. It runs while protection is on, and stops the moment you turn it off.
