TETRIS

Tetris is a timeless and iconic puzzle video game originally designed and programmed by Alexey Pajitnov in 1984. The core gameplay involves arranging falling geometric shapes, known as Tetrominoes, to form complete horizontal lines on a vertical playing field (the grid). Each Tetromino is made up of four square blocks arranged in different configurations — I, O, T, S, Z, J, and L shapes.
As the pieces fall from the top of the screen, players can move them left or right and rotate them to fit into available spaces. When a full horizontal line is formed, it disappears, making room for new pieces and awarding the player points. Multiple lines cleared at once (such as a "Tetris" — four lines at once using the I-block) grant higher scores.
The game progressively increases in speed, challenging the player’s reflexes, planning, and spatial reasoning. The game ends when the blocks reach the top of the screen and there’s no space for new ones to fall.
Tetris has become one of the most influential and widely recognized games in history, praised for its addictive gameplay, simplicity, and enduring appeal across generations and platforms.
