The Washington Redskins were one of the oldest players in NFL history. They were founded in Boston in 1932, formerly known as the Boston Brave, when the team owner was George Preston Marshall. When Marshall moved the team from the Boston Braves baseball home Brave Stadium to the Fenway Arena, home of the Boston Red Sox baseball team, in order to distinguish it from the Boston Brave baseball team, he changed the name of the original team to Boston Redskin.
