Let's face it, there is a lot of clickbait out there. There are many site's whose entire existence is to create inflamed article titles so that you click on them. Sometimes, it is easy to know that there are to be ignored, sometimes it is more difficult. Clickbait Blocker is a free and opensource Chrome extension that is built to allow you to be warned when hitting a known Clickbait site. This can be ignored, or added to an allowed list of sites you trust. More features on the way. The list of sites is free and available on GitHub— additions or removals are welcome on the GitHub repository: https://github.com/clickbait/clickbait-blocker-sites The full source code can be seen also on GitHub: |
This extension works across multiple websites to identify clickbait content and notify it to the user. The user can block similar clickbait content (which works similar to adblock). It also has the option to report undetected links as clickbait. The user can also report misclassified links which are mistakenly detected as clickbait. Such feedback helps in improving the extension. It currently works on a number of selected websites. We would cover more websites in future. |
