Earbuds Delay Test

Check the delay of your earbuds.

Earbuds Delay Test is a simple Chrome extension designed to help you measure the audio delay in your earbuds. Audio delay refers to the time difference between the sound playback starting on your device and when you actually hear that sound from your earbuds. This delay can impact your listening experience, especially with wireless devices like Bluetooth earbuds that typically have higher latency than wired ones.

The extension works by playing a tick sound exactly when a clock hand passes 0ms on the app's interface. You can observe where the clock hand is when your earbuds actually produce the tick, measuring the delay in milliseconds. Unlike video players that adjust visuals to sync with audio delay, this test reveals the true latency of your earbuds. Earbuds Delay Test is an essential tool to better understand your audio device's performance and ensure optimal sound synchronization.

User reviews

Users find 'Earbuds Delay Test' simple and effective for estimating audio delay across different devices, assisting in syncing sound for gaming and other uses. The app is praised for its clean design, minimal ads, and helpful visual aids. However, many users note that accuracy is limited by reaction time in manually stopping the sound, and the absence of numeric delay offsets or automatic measurement. Some find instructions insufficient and the bouncing ball animation distracting, suggesting improvements could enhance usability and precision.
Pros
  • Simple and easy to use interface making it accessible for users.
  • Effectively helps users estimate audio delay with different earphone devices.
  • No intrusive ads and free to use.
  • Provides useful visual cues and different displays to aid measurement.
  • Helps in adjusting audio offset in apps or games lacking built-in offset settings.
Cons
  • Accuracy affected by human reaction time when stopping the test, leading to less precise delay measurement.
  • Instructions are unclear or not detailed enough, causing confusion on usage.
  • Lacks a feature to automatically calculate delay or provide numeric delay offset directly.
  • Some users find the visual bouncing ball distracting when trying to pinpoint the click.
  • Does not measure delay scientifically (e.g., using microphone or automatic detection) making some results questionable.
Recent reviews
Simple and to the point. Unlike other delay tests, this one takes pains to make it easier to estimate/measure the delay - generally not that easy to do - with a few different visual displays and colour clues at t=0. Well done.

Actually a good delay tester, does exactly what it says, haven't seen any ads since I opened the app, all you have to do is pause when you hear the tap. Used this to fix my audio delay in Geometry Dash and it sounds synced now. Thanks devs, 5/5
