## Description

asbplayer is a free, open-source language-learning assistant designed for serious learners who study through subtitled media. It works with nearly every streaming service, offering text-selectable subtitles, the option to use your own subtitle files, and auto-detected subtitles on Netflix and YouTube. The extension also provides a streamlined UI to create Anki flashcards with subtitles, screenshots, and audio, plus controls for navigating subtitles and adjusting playback speed.

Beyond basic playback, asbplayer includes features to optimize learning: skip unsubtitled sections, annotate subtitles with learning aids, and maintain a vocabulary database to highlight known and unknown words. It integrates with open-source tools for a richer study workflow. Note: the Firefox version does not support recording DRM-protected audio.
