Route Collector is a native app that lets you personally record which stations and stops on the German rail network you've visited. From these entries, the app automatically calculates how far you've traveled on each route, which German states you've visited, and how many points you've collected.

▶ Concept

Traditional route collectors track train routes directly. Here, we simplify things: you mark stations as "visited" or "passed through." The app then calculates which routes you've traveled based on the network's topology. The advantage: you don't need to know at which junction you changed lines.

▶ Three ways to reach the station

• Location—the GPS button shows you the nearest stations sorted by distance. For "I'm currently here."

• Search — Full-text search with autocomplete, simultaneously finding station names and Ril100 codes (e.g., "FF" → Frankfurt Hbf).

• Map — All stations and routes are displayed on the map, status colors at a glance, and tapping a marker allows you to enter information directly.

▶ Statistics and Gameplay

Each station has a point value between 1 and 100 — poorly connected terminal stations are worth a lot, large main stations less. Route progress is shown in two values: "visited" and "traversed." The state overview shows you at a glance where you still have gaps.

▶ Map

I'm trying to map the entire route network. The primary data source is the open data from DB InfraGO, enriched with data from OpenStreetMap. Routes are color-coded according to their usage status (black/orange/blue/green), markers show the status of each station, and an inline search takes you directly to the selected station on the map.

▶ Privacy and Data Protection

No accounts. No server. No advertising. No tracking. Your visit history stays on your device — backups are done via Android Auto to your Google account; using the same account means automatic restoration when switching devices. You can also export and import as a CSV file at any time.

Route data is based on DB InfraGO infrastructure data (Open Data) and supplemented by OpenStreetMap data for non-federal railways. Data status and source information can be viewed in the app under "More → Data Sources".
