## Description

Seeneva is a fully open source smart comic book reader designed for Android devices. It offers unique features like smart speech balloon zooming using a built-in machine learning model, allowing easy navigation on small screens. Users can extract text from speech balloons with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and listen to comics through Text-To-Speech (TTS) functionality, currently available for English language.

Supporting a wide range of comic book formats such as CBZ, CBR, CB7, CBT, and PDFs, Seeneva also allows viewing ComicRack metadata and accommodates both Left-to-Right and Right-to-Left reading directions. The app runs locally on the device to ensure privacy, with no ads or personal data collection. Licensed under GPLv3, it encourages libre usage and contribution. ## Review summary

Seeneva is praised for its innovative speech-bubble zoom and TTS features that make reading comics on mobile devices accessible and enjoyable. Users appreciate its clean, ad-free interface and integration with platforms like Google Drive. However, many face challenges with slow and unstable loading of large files, limited format support, and unreliable text-to-speech performance due to OCR issues. The app also lacks robust library management and customization options, causing frustration among users seeking a more polished and comprehensive comic reader experience.

### Pros

- Supports text-to-speech (TTS), aiding accessibility especially for users with dyslexia.
- Clean experience with no ads, making the usage smooth and interruption-free.

- Good integration with external sources like Google Drive and Tachiyomi for accessing comics.

### Cons

- Slow and clunky loading and processing of comic files, especially large ones exceeding 80MB.
- Limited file format support and stability issues, with a preference for CBZ files; CBR can cause missing pages.
- TTS is unreliable due to OCR inaccuracies and limited customization options like voice selection.
- Lacks comprehensive library management features and advanced UI options such as dark mode or personalized themes.
- The app frequently crashes when opening files like zip or jpg, limiting usability for some users.
